Story

Some series of  Lara´s work reflects the subject of ritual, the animal and the connection with certain aspects of spirituality in ancestral cultures. Her pictorial style already has an ethnic point, and some of her works already advanced this interest.

These scenes are related to the Mesoamerican tradition of the nahuales, supernatural beings with the ability to become an animal (theriomorphism). According to this tradition, which is linked to other similar ones since ancient times and throughout the world, every human being has their power animal, which protects them and gives them their energy and wisdom. The characters in the paintings we mentioned thus become their animal avatars in a dynamic attitude celebrating life and the connection with the whole.

Lara always got inspired by tigers and she began to paint them connecting with their energy and power as her nahual. The tiger is considered an animal that grants power and protection and that helps and guides on the path of life, it represents a union with nature.

Tigers helped her to honor and protect her voice and power, and overcome bad times and became brave.
